The appellant, Ruben Pulido, was arrested in Chicago, Illinois on November 17, 1993 after attempting to acquire cocaine from Mario Lopez, an associate who, unbeknownst to Pulido, was cooperating with the government. On March 16, 1994, a federal grand jury returned a two-count indictment against Pulido. Count I of the indictment charged him with conspiracy to distribute cocaine during the period from December 1992 to July 12, 1993, in violation...
