Courts and jurists everywhere agree that the title to real estate is governed by the laws of the place where it is situated, the universal rule being that the title to such property can only be acquired, passed, or lost according to the lex loci rei sitœ. Story, Confl. Laws (6th ed.), sect. 424; Wharton, Confl. Laws, sect. 273.
