¶ 1. The State of Vermont appeals from the district court's order granting a motion to suppress statements made by defendant Michael M. Christmas to a detective after defendant's arrest on suspicion of committing murder. The district court concluded that the detective failed to scrupulously honor defendant's Fifth Amendment rights because, as the detective admitted, his efforts to establish rapport with defendant were intended to elicit a confession...
