At issue in this case is whether the trial court committed error requiring reversal when it gave an ad-lib deadlocked-jury instruction. We conclude that it did. The instruction given by the trial court lacked constructive advice to encourage further deliberation, omitted important safeguards of jurors' honest convictions...
