The defendant was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm after having been convicted previously of a serious drug offense. See G. L. c. 269, § 10G (a). After an evidentiary hearing, a Superior Court judge granted the defendant's motion to suppress evidence of the firearm (a loaded .32 caliber handgun).
