Melvin Johnson was convicted of armed robbery with a firearm following a unanimous jury verdict. He was subsequently adjudicated a third-felony offender and sentenced to 198 years' imprisonment without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence for the armed robbery conviction, and an additional consecutive 5 years for the use of a firearm during the armed robbery.
