On August 16, 2000, the circuit court of Williamson County, Illinois, entered a judgment for a tax deed in favor of the petitioner, S.I. Securities. On May 9, 2003, respondent Phillip Castellano filed a petition pursuant to section 2-1401 of the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure (the Code) (735 ILCS 5/2-1401 (West 2002)) to vacate the judgment for the tax deed.
