Appellant Valerie Carey pled guilty, under a negotiated plea agreement, to all counts in a 13-count Fulton County indictment charging Carey and her husband with malice murder and other crimes in connection with the death of their daughter.1 In pleading guilty, Carey avoided a possible death sentence and was sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole for murder, plus concurrent terms of imprisonment...
