In 1996, Anthony Otto Jackson was convicted of armed robbery, burglary, and false imprisonment. He was sentenced to life for armed robbery, 30 years consecutive to life for burglary, and 12 months concurrent with the burglary sentence for false imprisonment. With new counsel, Jackson moved for but was denied a new trial in 1999. Jackson's convictions and sentences were affirmed on direct appeal in Jackson v. State,
