MEMORANDUM OPINION

SLEET, Chief Judge.

Pending before the court is an application1 for a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254 filed by petitioner Jimmie Lewis ("Lewis"). (D.I. 2.) For the reasons discussed, the court will deny the petition as time-barred by the one-year limitations period prescribed in 28 U.S.C. § 2244.
