Edna Sonsteng ("Mrs. Sonsteng") brought this action against Dominican Sisters of Ontario, Inc., d/b/a Holy Rosary Medical Center ("Hospital"), Joseph J. Boyle, M.D., and Frank J. Spokas, M.D., alleging that defendants were negligent in failing to diagnose and treat her cancer. During the pendency of the lawsuit, Mrs. Sonsteng died. Her husband, Glenn H.
