While complex legal and factual issues are often present in litigation, the procedure used to resolve those issues is relatively straightforward. A trial court conducts a trial at which it receives evidence and hears argument. Said court then issues its findings of fact, conclusions of law, and judgment. After reviewing the same, one or more of the parties may appeal the trial court's ruling. All of this is rather pedestrian...
