This case involves the Arkansas Teacher Fair Dismissal Act, codified at Ark. Code Ann. §§ 6-17-1501-1510. The Act allows a teacher who receives a notice of recommended termination or nonrenewal to file a written request with the school district's board of directors for a hearing, and it requires the board to grant the requested hearing.
