The issue in this appeal is whether Gilbert Aponte should receive attorney's fees in this civil-rights suit. Aponte sued four Chicago police officers, seeking over $100,000 in damages, but a jury awarded him only $100 against just one defendant. Aponte then requested attorney's fees of over $100,000, which the district court denied. He appeals that decision, arguing that the district court applied the wrong legal test to determine his eligibility...
