In 1998, a Houston County jury convicted Martin Daniel Peterson of the malice murder of Nina Albright, his live-in girlfriend and mother to his infant daughter. The trial court sentenced Peterson to life in prison, and he appealed. In 2001, we affirmed Peterson's conviction and sentence in all respects but one and remanded the case to the trial court for the limited purpose of considering his claim of ineffective assistance of trial counsel....
