This action began as a product liability case involving a defective building material intended for use in residential construction. The product was a synthetic exterior stucco finish known as the Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS). Between 1994 and 1998, petitioner, Pulte Home Corporation, built 77 homes using that system. When the system failed to prevent water penetration, as it was allegedly designed...
