L.A., who has been involuntarily confined at the Vermont State Hospital (VSH) since April 2005, appeals from the family court's order granting the State's applications for continued treatment and for involuntary medication. In addition to defending that order, the State cross-appeals from the family court's determination that orders concerning involuntary medication are stayed automatically pending appeal pursuant to V.R.F.P. 12(a).
