In the early hours of April 19, 2001, the victim, a dealer in illegal drugs, was shot to death in his apartment during an incident involving the defendant and two other men. The defendant was indicted for murder in the first degree, armed robbery,1 attempted armed robbery, and unlawful possession of a sawed-off shotgun unconnected to the shooting.
