¶ 1 After the dissolution of a marriage, a person's obligation to pay future maintenance to a former spouse terminates upon the death of either party or upon the remarriage of the party receiving maintenance, unless the decree of dissolution expressly provides to the contrary or the parties have otherwise agreed in writing.
