While awaiting trial and in custody in lieu of bond, appellant Juakee Gresham filed a pre-trial petition for habeas corpus relief. Accordingly, he is entitled to a direct appeal from the trial court's denial of habeas relief. OCGA § 9-14-22; Smith v. Nichols, 270 Ga. 550(1), 512 S.E.2d 279 (1999).
