Petitioner Pedro Diaz ("Diaz") filed a petition seeking a writ of habeas corpus pursuant to the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act ("AEDPA"), 28 U.S.C. § 2254 (1996). Diaz challenges his conviction in the New York State Supreme Court, Bronx County (the "trial court") on several counts relating to an incident of violent sexual assault.
