In April, 2002, the defendant was found guilty of murder in the first degree on theories of extreme atrocity or cruelty (acting as a principal) and felony-murder (acting as both a joint venturer and a principal). He also was found guilty of armed robbery as both a principal and joint venturer and of illegal possession of a firearm as a principal.
