The state charged that Margaret Johnson committed fifteen instances of forgery, violations of La. R.S. 14:72, each count punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000, and imprisonment with or without hard labor for not more than ten years, or both. The parties entered into a plea bargain under which the defendant agreed to plead guilty to the first two counts and to make restitution to all the victims in exchange for the state's dismissal of the remaining...
