The Bank of LaFayette, Georgia, sued Evelyn Hampton to enforce Hampton's guarantee of two promissory notes executed by her daughter, Lynn Patterson, in favor of the bank. Hampton argues that a confirmation order entered in federal bankruptcy proceedings instituted by Patterson bars the bank from bringing suit.
