The defendant, Wesley Hanes, has appealed from a judgment of conviction of first-degree murder and carrying a handgun without a license in the fatal shooting of Jamel Palmer. The defendant argued that the trial justice erred: (1) by failing to instruct the jury correctly on the use of deadly force in self-defense, and (2) by refusing to permit defense counsel to elicit testimony during cross-examination of the medical examiner...
