Following the death of Paul Downing, plaintiff Fort Dearborn Life Insurance Company filed an interpleader action (735 ILCS 5/2-409 (West 1998)) against Susan Downing, the decedent's widow, and Janet Holcomb, the decedent's companion at the time of his death.
