On June 16, 1999, defendant Mark Garrett Brown was indicted for possession of a stolen 1989 Acura in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2313 (Count One), possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(k) (Count Two), and possession of a prohibited firearm in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 5861(e) (Count Three). Brown subsequently moved to sever the trial of Count One...
