On September 15, 1997, Stephen Calogero sustained damages to his vehicle as a result of an automobile accident. At the time of the accident, Calogero's vehicle was being driven by his stepson, David Campos. Calogero presented a property damage claim to his insurer, Safeway Insurance Company of Louisiana (hereinafter "Safeway").
