On July 15, 1992, Adelle C. Cannady, plaintiff-appellee, was a passenger in a car driven by her daughter, Brenda C. Martin, traveling westbound on Georgia State Highway 26, also designated U.S. Highway 80; they had left Brooklet and were driving toward Statesboro, Georgia.
