We granted certiorari in this case to consider whether the Court of Appeals correctly held that OCGA § 51-5-7, which provides that in defamation actions certain communications are deemed privileged, can be used as an evidentiary privilege to prevent admission of a party's statements into evidence for impeachment purposes.
