On January 1, 1993,1 plaintiff, Clifton Timothy Terral, was a patron at the Waffle House restaurant in Hammond, Louisiana. After Terral had completed his breakfast, a waitress dropped a glass sugar container, causing it to fall to the floor and shatter.
