Defendant, Ms. Melanie Cortez, was found guilty of attempted cruelty to a juvenile and was sentenced to three years at hard labor. Defendant's sentence was suspended and she was placed on three years active supervised probation, subject to the conditions of La. Code Crim.P. art. 895 and other special conditions.
