Defendant, Bobby Paul Burke, was tried noncapitally, and a jury found him guilty of the first-degree murder of Patrick Joseph Leuten. The trial judge imposed the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment. Defendant was also convicted of one count of discharging a firearm into an occupied motor vehicle, but judgment was arrested on this conviction.
