This appeal arises from Smitty's detention, on suspicion of shoplifting, of Yan Gau accompanied by Miau Yu, her four-year-old son. Smitty's appeals from a jury verdict in favor of Yan Gau and Miau Yu on their false imprisonment claims and in favor of Miau Yu on his negligence claim.
