The plaintiff, MAJC, Inc., filed its complaint on January 17, 1994, in the circuit court for Milwaukee county. On July 21, 1994, the defendant, Patrick Milligan, removed this action to federal court on the ground that it was an action between citizens of different states and the amount in controversy exceeded $50,000.
