Following a jury trial, Terry L. Newson was convicted of murder in the first degree, § 565.020.1, RSMo 1994,1 assault in the first degree, § 565.050, and two counts of armed criminal action, § 571.015, for which he was sentenced respectively to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole and to three consecutive terms of life imprisonment.
