On May 8, 1990, petitioner James J. Morrison ("Morrison") was convicted in New York State Supreme Court, Suffolk County of sixteen counts of sodomy. He was sentenced to sixteen concurrent terms of incarceration of twelve and one-half to twenty-five years.
