Plaintiff, Loann Ledet, was injured in an accident in a freight elevator. She brought suit against defendant, Montgomery Elevator Company, which held a contract to service the elevator. The matter proceeded to trial and at the conclusion of plaintiff's case-in-chief, the district judge granted defendant's motion for a directed verdict, concluding that there was insufficient evidence to find defendant liable for plaintiff's injuries.
