Defendant, Leslie Palmer, pleaded guilty in the circuit court of Mason County to three counts of first degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1991, ch. 38, pars. 9-1(a)(1), (a)(3)), and one count each of home invasion, residential burglary and armed robbery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, pars. 12-11, 19-3, 18-2(a)).
