Appellant Roderick Jarmarlo Davis was convicted by a jury of the offense of murder. See TEX.PENAL CODE ANN. § 19.02 (Vernon 1989). The jury assessed punishment at twenty-five years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
