The question presented in the final chapter of this novel criminal forfeiture proceeding is whether the government can use a criminal forfeiture statute, 21 U.S.C. § 853, to reach the proceeds of drug trafficking when those proceeds were used by the drug trafficker to pay legal fees and the law firm spent the fees prior to the entry of the forfeiture order.
