Plaintiff, Thomas P. Bafia, brought a retaliatory discharge action against defendant, City International Trucks, Inc., alleging that he was fired from his job with defendant because he filed and refused to withdraw a claim pursuant to the Workers' Compensation Act. (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 48, par. 138.4(h) (now 820 ILCS 305/4 (West 1992)).) At the close of plaintiff's case in chief, the trial judge granted defendant...
