The appellant, James Hayes, was convicted of aggravated assault, for which he was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment. On appeal, he contends that the trial court erred (1) in denying his amended motion for new trial based on ineffective assistance of trial counsel, (2) in excluding evidence of the victim's bias, and (3) in failing to conduct a presentence hearing.
