Defendant Melvin Golden was charged with first-degree murder. Codefendant Vincent Williams was also charged with first-degree murder on an accountability theory. After a joint bench trial, Golden was convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to 12 years in the penitentiary. Williams was acquitted on a motion for directed finding. Golden has timely appealed his conviction and sentence pursuant to Supreme Court...
