In October 1987 plaintiff Miller Building Corporation (Miller) entered a written contract with defendant Coastline Associates Limited Partnership (Coastline) primarily for the construction of the Coastline Inn in Wilmington, North Carolina. The contract contained an arbitration provision and a provision that Coastline would be charged interest on all late monthly payments.
