Howard Street Jewelers filed suit against its accountant, Gilbert Wegad, C.P.A., for professional malpractice based upon his failure to detect that the jewelry store's cashier was embezzling funds. On February 20, 1990, the case went to trial before a jury and the Honorable William N. Nickerson in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County.
