In September 1990, Diane Patrick filed a petition to dissolve her 12-year marriage with David S. Patrick, respondent. In November 1991, the trial court ordered the marriage dissolved, distributed the property of the parties, and ordered David to pay $1,000 per month in maintenance for one year.
