The issue in this appeal is whether a petition for leave of court to amend a complaint to add defendants is effective to toll the statute of limitations where no action is commenced against such added defendants until after the time allowed by the statute of limitations has expired. The trial court held that the mere filing of a petition to amend a prior complaint did not toll the statute of limitations as to defendants not named in the original complaint...
