Dr. Vernon Gifford sustained severe injuries when he came in contact with a live power line which had fallen from one of the utility poles installed by Four-County Electric Power Association (association). Dr. Gifford and his wife, Jean Gifford (Giffords or plaintiffs) brought a complaint in negligence against the association. The jury found for the association.
