On June 8, 1992, Plaintiff, Jane G. Kraft ("Kraft"), a nurse formerly employed by Defendant, Memorial Medical Center, Inc. ("MMC"), instituted this federal question action alleging MMC discriminated against her because of a handicap, in violation of § 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. § 794 (the "Rehabilitation Act"), and the Civil Rights Act of 1871, 42 U.S.C. § 1983 ("§ 1983").
